Our take
Emma Seligman and Rachel Sennott built a high-school comedy that runs on cartoon logic — the football team wears uniforms everywhere, a teacher does not care, someone gets blown up — and put two unpopular, horny, deeply unserious lesbians at the centre of it.
The joke is not that they are gay; the joke is that they are terrible people with a bad plan. That distinction is the whole reason it felt new. Ayo Edebiri and Sennott are a genuine comic double act, and it is the rare recent comedy that is actually paced like one.
