Our take
Billy Eichner plays a podcaster and museum director who does not believe in relationships and then has one. It is a genuinely funny script with an all-LGBTQ+ principal cast, and it is doing something no studio film had done before at that scale.
The self-awareness is also the problem — the film keeps stopping to tell you what it is achieving, and the jokes about gay history occasionally read as a lecture with a laugh track. Worth watching, worth arguing about, and the Hallmark parody is perfect.
